Reflections

Hi and welcome back Sorry I missed last week. As I mentioned before I am currently a college student in my final semester of college. Last week was ruff I had a big project looming on me, and  I did not have a lot of time to squeeze in some rod making. So, this week I wanted to reflect on my experiences and what I hope to accomplish in the future. I do not know if I will continue to blog be I do seem to enjoy it.

My first rod the “Green Goblin” is surprisingly still in one peace! I have taken it out a few times and have managed to catch a few bass with it. Now I don’t know if that is all rod or my skills as a fisherman, but it casts well, and I have not had any issues with the line tangling up while casting. While the “Green Goblin: is not the pretest rod on the banks it does get the job done.

I did learn a lot from building the “Green Goblin” for one you need to use a China marker or some other form of marker that comes off. If you look close you can still see the marks, I made to set in the guides. I ended up using a Sharpie to make those marks, and every time I look at it, I will remember not to use a permanent marker. I also struggled with putting on the guides with that one as well. I was using the masking tape method which did work but caused issues that can easily be avoided.

Now I am very proud of “Eagle one” that rod just looks fantastic. I definitely learned a lot from this build. For example, I ordered the rod guild tubing and oh man did that ever make putting on the guides easier. I also followed directions and filed down the guides. Now the wrapping did not look anything like the picture but I did enjoy doing it.
